Night Life
I’ve been finding it difficult to find the time to get down to the plot recently, but faced with the prospect of yet another meal of tinned mushroom soup, I thought the time had come to rescue some of the remaining winter roots.
Armed with 4 high power bike torches I headed down to the allotment to spook myself in the gloaming.
My helmet lamp is quite bright so I left it on to dig amongst the carrot beds and for ferreting amongst the brocolli in search of early shoots.
My tea is looking more promising tonight.

Hello Earthwoman that is what I call London night life. I wish I could have seen you armed with the torches. Your carrots looks great and the December garden picture wonderful. / Tyra
The mere sight of a descent allotment carrot makes me envious. I’m hibernating garden wise – can’t stand the wet and cold.
Things foraged from the allotment this time of year are very special aren’t they? Mine is just so flooded at the moment I can’t bear to wade through the water to get to them.
Such a drag when it’s dark when you get up and when you get back from work! I’ve been picking stuff at the weekend for the week ahead as I always feel lazy on cold nights!
The carrots look good, we had some too this week – they were more special by being on of the few things still edible in the kitchen garden!
